Lecture series features World War II authors

This month’s Frances Humphrey Lecture Series at the Nevada State Museum feature: Legacies of the Silver State: Nevada Goes to War based on a war book written by Ken Beaton, David C. Henley and Steve Ranson.

The lecture will be held at the Nevada State Museum on 900 N. Carson St., on Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Beaton and Ranson will share a chapter of Nevada history as they discuss their book detailing the accounts of more than 71 World War II veterans, including three women, POWs and survivors of Nazi concentration camps. Signed copies of the book will be available at the event with all proceeds going to Honor Flight Nevada.

This lecture will be presented in person and on Zoom. Admission is $10 for adults, members and children age 17 and under are free. Registration is required for the lecture.

During the past two decades, the authors have written and published many of their articles on World War II veterans. The final push to write articles on the veterans came when Ranson accompanied World War II veterans on an Honor Flight Nevada to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii in February 2020.

So far, the authors have netted more than $21,000 which has gone to Honor Flight Nevada.
