Wonderful news for CAPS guests

Ace is a two-year-old male Lab mix. He is a high-energy, friendly dog. Ace does well with children and other dogs, but he is afraid of cats. He is house trained, loves to play with his toys, and knows some basic commands. Come out and meet this happy fellow, he is waiting to go home.

Dear Readers, the greatest gift of all is on the horizon for Churchill Animal Protection Society. Churchill County and City of Fallon have allocated funds to build a new shelter. Built on county-owned property, the proposed shelter will be located near the Moody Wastewater Treatment plant.
The new insulated shelter will be larger than the present location. The building will house restrooms, storage rooms, and indoor kennels for our guests. One real bonus is reclaimed water can be used for cleaning and proximity to the sewer plant makes waste disposal convenient.
As of now, we do not have a timeline on the project and until the new shelter is completed, our operation will continue to be at the current CAPS location on Pasture Road. As exciting, as this news is we still need donations for veterinarian bills, spay/neuter costs, pet food, and clumping cat litter.
CAPS will also have the responsibility to secure donations and volunteers to fence the area surrounding the new shelter and build the indoor-outdoor pens that attach to the building. If you have experience, supplies and a can-do attitude, please give us a call because we can really use your expertise.
CAPS will need to do most of the interior finishing of the building. This will include some of the fixtures and flooring throughout the area. As the needs become more apparent, we will appeal to our community for your help.
Julie Ameil, the current executive director of CAPS, said, “We always hoped to have a new building and when this happened our dreams came true, we were so surprised and happy!”
From the Old Post Office, our original location, to Pasture Road our wonderful community has supported and helped us provide for the animals we care for.
It is a testament to our city and county that they support our no-kill shelter and we are thankful for each and every person who has helped us along the way. Fallon is the small town with a big heart!
