Kaden McIver continues to dazzle on the mound this season, turning in a complete game shutout over Carson High on Tuesday in a 5-0 win.

The senior needed 94 pitches to strike out 13 of the 26 Senators he faced.

“I threw a lot of changeups until that fourth inning and then I went to the curveball and slider,” said McIver. “Just a mix between the three.”

McIver’s earned run average is 1.05 in 46 2/3 innings. His WHIP (walks and hits per inning pitched) is 0.83.

McIver has 86 strikeouts against 22 walks and 17 hits allowed.

“I’m in the gym five or six days a week in the offseason,” said McIver.

Carson was only able to reach third base one time Tuesday after Quentin Beck reached on a leadoff single before stealing second.

A sacrifice bunt moved Beck to third with one out, but a sliding stop by junior Noah Garrison kept a run off the board on a strikeout.

The next at-bat, Thomas Young came in from center field to make a lunging catch, which ended the threat.

Young was 2-for-3 with a run scored and a triple to the wall in the fourth inning.

Junior Aaron Moss was 2-for-3 with a double.

Carter Bleeker drove in a pair of insurance runs in the sixth to give the Tigers their 5-0 cushion.

Carson’s Jeremy Hernandez made a great play at shortstop in the fourth innings to get the second out of the frame.

Aden McNabb pitched well again for Carson, striking out five over five innings.

Douglas is 9-12 overall. Carson is 4-17.
