A Carson City bicyclist has died from injuries suffered in a crash on Geiger Grade in July, according to the Nevada State Police.
Cody Wayne Williams, 33, died July 23 from injuries suffered July 6 in a crash with a pickup at State Route 341 and Chamy Drive, NSP said in a news release.
The news release did not identify the driver.
On July 6, at 8:50 a.m., the Nevada State Police responded to the crash. Preliminary investigation indicates a gray GMC 1500 was traveling northbound on Kivett Lane approaching the intersection with SR341. Williams was traveling westbound on SR341 approaching the intersection of Kivett Lane.
The GMC 1500 did not yield right of way from a stop sign and continued across SR341, the release said. The front of the bicycle struck the right side of the GMC and Williams was ejected.
Williams was transported to a hospital but the Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office notified NSP on July 23 that he had succumbed to injuries.
Nevada State Police Highway Patrol Northern Command West M.I.R.T (Multidisciplinary Investigation & Reconstruction Team) is conducting the investigation.
The fatality marks the Nevada State Police, Highway Patrol – Northern Command West 27th fatal crash, resulting in 30 fatalities for 2023.
