The Carson City Fire Department says a firefigher sustained minor injuries during the fire.

" Firefighters quick actions prevented the fire from spreading into the main house. A total of 23 Firefighters responded to the blaze. One firefighter suffered a minor injury," the department posted on Facebook.

"We would like to remind everyone to make sure you wait until ashes and used charcoal are cold to touch before you discard them. And when you do discard ashes please do so in metal trash containers that are stored outside and away from buildings and other combustible materials," the department said in the social media message.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. East Fork Fire assisted in extinguishing the fire.

A structure fire on Boyle Street on Washoe Tribal land on Friday was contained to the garage of a house, though three residents were temporarily displaced, according to Carson City Fire Department Battalion Chief Chris Mason.

CCFD responded around 11:15 a.m. and had the blaze contained by 11:45 a.m., Mason said. The cause of the fire was still under investigation when he talked to the Appeal.

"Everybody is okay," he said. "There wasn't anybody in the house when we arrived on scene. It was just a matter of putting the garage fire out."

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office assisted with traffic control, temporarily closing streets as firefighters battled the blaze in an easterly wind.

Mason said the Red Cross was taking care of the displaced residents.

"The house is not going to be habitable due to the fact they had to shut power and gas off," he said.
