Wrestling: Greenwave seventh at Las Vegas dual tournament

The Greenwave wrestling team finished seventh at the Shadow Ridge Mustang Stampede in Las Vegas.

Fallon finished 3-1 in Friday’s B Pool of duals but was 1-3 on Saturday to take seventh out of 16 teams. Fallon defeated Desert Oasis, 53-25, The Meadows, 72-12, and Temecula Valley B, 48-30, but lost to Beaver, 63-18, on Friday. After defeating Sierra Vista, 39-32, on Saturday, the Greenwave fell to Canyon View, 63-15, Liberty, 53-24, and American Fork, 47-27.

Fallon travels to Reno on Friday for the Tournament of Champions at the Reno Events Center. Those who do not qualify for Saturday’s round will compete in the Lovelock tournament.

Carson Melendy (138 pounds) finished 4-2 on the weekend, and Andre Green (126) was 3-1. Evan Mackuliak (113) and Colton Blankenship (175) finished 4-3, Lonnie Adams (144) split his eight matches (4-4) and Quentin Hornbeak (165) was 3-3. Neal McIntyre (120) and Caden McKnight (157) finished 3-4, and Nathaniel Zackery (132) and Avery DeAloia were 2-4.

Manuel Barros (106) recorded a 1-2 finish, Tyson Wilson (215) was 1-6 and Andrew Douglas (150) was winless in seven bouts.


McQUEEN JV RESULTS

Fallon sent several wrestlers to the podium of the McQueen JV tournament Saturday in Reno.

Evan Garcia finished 4-0, including a second-period fall over teammate Maxmillion Dahl, to win the 126-pound division. Dahl won his first three matches to set up the final with Garcia.

Manuel Karaway won the 165 division with a 4-0 record, and Ashton McCourtney took second in the 190s, going 3-0 before falling in the first-place match. Kacin Rogne finished third in the 175 division after posting a 5-1 record, including four wins in the consolation bracket.

Fallon’s lone wrestler in the girls division, Tommie Fitzer, placed third after splitting both of her matches.

Rio Seguar finished 3-3 in the 132 class, Wyatt Lambert finished 2-2 in the 144s and Jason Lewis won his first two before falling in the quarterfinal and losing his first consolation match to finish 2-2 in the 215s. Evan Innes was winless in two matches.
