Arizona man dies in Churchill County crash

A 39-year-old Arizona man died on Feb. 14 after a crash on I-80 near marker 86 in Churchill County.

The Nevada State Police said at 1:51 p.m., a white Ford Fusion sedan was traveling westbound east of mile marker 86, approaching a commercial motor vehicle.

For reasons unconfirmed, the Ford Fusion struck the rear of the CMV trailer. The driver of the CMV came to a controlled stop on the westbound outside shoulder. The Ford Fusion and CMV remained in contact until the fire department separated the two. The driver of the Ford Fusion, Lyle Begay, a 39 year-old-male from Rock Point, Arizona, died.

This marks the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol – Northern Command’s fifth fatal crash and fith fatality for 2023.
