Nevada’s Rehabilitation Division has released a video series designed to support people interacting with the blind and visually impaired.
The series explains different skills including walking with a cane, using a guide dog and signing documents. A spokesman said the goal is to help individuals themselves, their friends and family members and service providers with hands-on experience in helping the visually impaired function independently in society.
“Everyone knows someone who has or will have vision loss,” said Raquel O’Neill, the head of Blind Connect. “We hope to diminish those barriers by providing friendly and easy-to-relate-to information.”
She said there are nearly 44,000 Nevadans with a vision disability.
