Nevada is known for its dry, arid climate, 300 days of sunshine a year and limitless outdoor activities, which can wreak havoc on your skin.

Elaine Spencer, owner of the newly opened Le Visage Spa for Skincare located in the Carson Mall, said skin, being the largest organ in the human body, needs to be nurtured especially in this climate.

“Sun and low humidity can really damage our skin,” she said. “We can maintain healthy, beautiful skin and can also reverse some of the damage from past years if we take care of it, and you don’t need to go through the pain and expense of treatments like lasers and fillers to achieve healthy, glowing skin.”

Spencer said her vision with Le Visage is to offer a variety of services including facials, peels and microdermabrasion to help heal and nurture skin, as well as body waxing and lash extensions at prices and a location that are attainable for everyone.

“We know not everyone can afford spa prices and part of that expense is the business model many spas and salons follow,” she said. “We employ seven estheticians on staff, so they don’t have to rent booth space and compete for clientele.”

Spencer said from the very beginning her plan was to include walk-in services.

“People are so busy they can’t always make appointments or plan ahead,” she said. “This way, if someone wanted to drop in on their lunch break or after work for a 30-minute facial, we can take care of them.”

Le Visage is hosting its Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Celebration on Friday, Jan. 13, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. with the ribbon cutting at 5:30, following its soft opening last month, and is offering discounts on services and memberships this week.

Spencer is also the owner of Plato’s Closet, the resale/retail clothing store next door to Le Visage in the Carson Mall. Plato’s Closet specializes in resale fashion for men and women, with women’s sizes ranging from 0-20 and beyond.
