Sierra Nevada Realtors is hosting its annual Cornhole’s Best for Hopefest charity event on Aug. 11 in Carson City with check-in starting at 4 p.m. and the tournament starting at 5:30 p.m.

The event will take place at 300 S. Curry St., and the Curry Street parking lot. Sponsorships and team signups are available, with proceeds going to support local cancer patients through SNR’s partnership with Carson Tahoe Health. The event is open to SNR members and the public.

“Our annual charity event combines the joy of cornhole with the opportunity to make a positive impact in the community,” said April LaBrie, CEO of SNR. “We are proud to support local cancer patients and their families and appreciate the participation of each and every individual joining us in this special endeavor.”

Participants will be able to compete to win cornhole boards, raffle prizes and cash prizes. The team registration fee is $100 for two player teams, with two food and two drink tickets included per player.

Those looking to sponsor the event can become a Hopefest Partner for $750 or a Cornhole Board Sponsor for $300.

To become a sponsor or register a team to participate, contact Taryn Cleveland at 775-284-7631.

Funds raised help patients with rent and mortgage payments, gas vouchers, groceries and free lodging. Previous years have raised more than $100,000 for the cause, according to Carson Tahoe Health.

“We believe no one should go through a cancer diagnosis alone, and that is what this fundraiser is about, making sure our neighbors facing cancer have all the resources they need while undergoing treatment,” Angelina Craig of CTH said in a statement last year.
