Yanizia Herrera, a Carson High School senior, received a $100 gift card for submitting the winning design of a logo for the Carson City Schools Foundation.

Ten students participated in the logo contest from teacher Patricia Ababio's graphic design advanced studies class.

One use of Herrera’s logo will be in CCSF’s annual giving campaign, Funding Future Dreams. Through June 30, the foundation seeks community contributions to support three programs: the teacher classroom mini-grant and department/school-site grants that help purchase special project materials; student book and material fees for students qualifying for the JumpStart College program and exam fees for Advanced Placement (AP) students in need.

The foundation’s goal is to raise $60,000 – $20,000 for each program.

In April, an anonymous donor promised to match contributions up to $60,000.
