Twenty high school seniors were recognized during the 19th annual Molly Scholarship awards.

The awards honor the memory of former Douglas High student Molly Lahlum.

The $1,000 Molly scholarships were awarded to Douglas High’s Andrew Albert, Jacob Brady, Kiarra DePaz, Alexander Diaz, Adaline Doerr, Emerson Dufloth, Isabella Flynn, Rock Gignac, Abigail Girdner, Grant Gomes, Jacob Hill, Kylee Lash, Abby Miller, Jac Reid, Theo Reid, Chana Rothschild, Joscelyn Turner, Amanda Warren, Makaila Youmans and Sierra Lutheran's Makenna McQuain. Scholarships were sponsored by the 20/30 Men's Club #85.

The scholarships were presented by Me for Incredible Youth staff JoJo and Suzi Townsell, advisory board members Mike McLaughlin, Alicia Main, Alexa Sinclair, Ryan Moglich, Mia Townsell, Nathan Tolbert, Jen Nalder, Mysta Townsell-Tucker, Viviana Zumstein, Rachel Allen and Michelle Luna.


Whitt, Johnson take low gross at Eagle Valley Men’s Club

Gregory Whitt and Kevin Johnson carded two-under-par 70s to tie for low gross honors as the Eagle Valley Men’s Club staged its third monthly masters tournament June 4 at Eagle Valley West Golf Course.

Lane Maestretti took first for the low net (after handicap is applied) in the first flight with an even-par 72, while Wes Camp and Johnson tied for second with 73.

In the second flight (players with higher handicaps), William Kapczynski led the way with a three-under-par low net 69. Scott Lusty finished second with 71 and Jim Silsby took third with 73.

In the third flight, Manny Lopez was first with a seven-under-par low net 65. Michael Wilson was second with 67, while Dana Whaley was third with 70.

The Eagle Valley Men’s Club season runs every Sunday through Oct. 29 at Eagle Valley West Course in Carson City and features weekly games with three flights based on handicap and optional skins games.

Information about the men’s club and the season schedule (with two away dates), application, formats (all shotgun starts and mainly individual stroke play), and the club’s rules and policies can be found under “clubs” on the course web site, eaglevalleygolfcourse.com. Golfers may print the application and mail it in or stop by the Eagle Valley golf shop to pick up one.
