Jeronimo finishes second at Big George Invitational

The Lowry High Scholl track and Field team made its way to Minden this past Saturday for the Big George Invitational that featured a number of Northern 5A schools.

 

Junior Jesse Jeronimo finished second in the shot put with a personal-best throw of 45 feet, 4.75 for the best finish for the Buckaroos on the day. In addition, Jeronimo set a personal best in the 100 meters with a time of 12.68 seconds. 

 

Shaun Gilliland placed sixth in the pole vault, as he cleared the bar at 12-0, while teammate Brent Kenison was ninth at 10-6. Kenison also placed ninth in the high jump with a mark of 5-4 and the freshman was 22nd in the long jump with a mark of 16-1.

 

Ryder Huitt finished 23rd in the 400 meters with a time of 58.71 and the freshman set a personal best in the 200 meters with a time of 27.17. Fellow freshman Colby Thacker placed 25th in the 1,600 meters with a time of 5:08.75, a personal best for him.

 

Spring Creek won the boys team title with 112 points and host Douglas was second at 101. Damonte Ranch (96), Reed (77) and Reno (71) rounded out the top five.

 

Kianna Head paced the Lowry girls with a ninth-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 29-11. The freshman finished 11th in the high jump (4-8) and was 16th in the 400 meters with a personal-best time of 1:07.54.

 

Kepa Hilbish set a personal best in the 200 meters to finish 14th with a time of 28.41 and the sophomore was 16th in the 100-meter dash at 13.91.

 

Brooklyn Swensen finished 20th in the 800 meters with a time of 3:02.94 and the sophomore set a personal best in the 1,600 meters (6:41.30) to finish 24th.

 

Freshman Morelia Magana placed 23rd in the shot put with a throw of 25-9.25 and she was 29th in the discus (63-3). Kailani Rodriguez finished 26th in the discus (63-3) and Adajah Milam placed 28th in the 400 meters with a personal-best time of 1:13.31. In addition, Milam set a personal best in the 100 meters with a time of 14.31 to place 27th.

 

Douglas won the team title on the girls side with 132 points and Reno (115) finished second. Carson (92), Galena (85.5) and Spanish Springs (64) completed the top five.

 

Lowry closes out the regular season at The Pershing County Invitational on Friday in Lovelock. The Northern 3A Regional Championships take place May 12-13 at Reed High School in Sparks.
