Lowry swimmers dual Fernley, Church County in Reno

The Lowry High School swim team was in Reno at Northwest Pool on Saturday, April 22, for a dual against Fernley and Churchill County.


In the boys division, Fernley beat Lowry 90-33 and Churchill County knocked off the Buckaroos 92-34.


On the girls side, Fernley defeated Lowry 122-30 and Churchill County won 121-33.


Tea Bengoa led the Lady Bucks with a win in the 200-yard individual medley against Fernley with a time of 3:00.26. Bengoa was the runner-up in the 100-yard butterfly at 1:25.87.

Aidan Peters placed second in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 3:00.20 and she was sixth in the 50-yard freestyle (37.01).


Evie Morgan was fourth in both the 50-yard freestyle (35.30) and the 100-yard freestyle (1:20.42).


Against Churchill County, Bengoa’s time in the 200-yard individual medley was good enough to win. She was second in the 100-yard butterfly.


Morgan finished second in the 100-yard freestyle and was third in the 50-yard freestyle.


Peters placed fourth in the 200-yard freestyle and 50-yard freestyle.


On the boys side against Fernley, Caden Montero finished second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 28.42 and was fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:31.60)

Garrett Jensen came away with two runner-up finishes in the 100-yard butterfly (1:21.09) and the 100-yard freestyle (1:08.33).

Tanner Hatch placed second in the 500-yard freestyle (7:28.45) and was third in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:31.60).


Against Churchill County, Jensen’s time in the 100-yard butterfly was good enough for the top spot. He was second in the 100-yard freestyle.

Hatch was the runner-up in the 500-yard freestyle and third in the 100-yard breaststroke and Montero placed second in the 50-yard freestyle and fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke.


Lowry was in Truckee this past Friday and results were not available at press time.


The Buckaroos conclude the regular season on Saturday, May 6, at Incline at 2 p.m.
