Green Central is the place to be Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for The Greenhouse Project's 14th annual Mother's Day plant sale. Plants are currently available online. These sales will be suspended Saturday through Wednesday, May 17 to allow staff to restock inventory.

Located on Carson High School’s campus, the event has grown to include an array of vendors, new this year, as well as face painting for the children, a raffle and Build a Basket for Mom, and of course, the always anticipated array of acclimated plants for gardening and landscaping.

This year’s raffle includes a basket with items donated by the vendors, including an oil painting titled "Summer Imaginings," by Karen Abowd, TGP founder and president; quilts by Cheryl Rotter and June James; and handcrafted jewelry and pottery by Vicki Crabb, all of whom are TGP board members. Raffle tickets cost $5 each or five for $20.

Vendors will offer an array of garden art and items, natural beauty products, specialty foods and more. Also participating will be The Nevada Monarch Society, which aids in creating sustainable environs and support for Monarch butterflies. Browse artisanal offerings from La Nova Beauty, Impressed Flowers by Kelly, Root 'N  Wing Studio, Caraway Charcuterie and Creations and Sarah Nicole Yard and Garden Art.

Build a Basket for Mom offers an array of options from garden aprons, gloves, cards, ribbons, seeds, and of course, plants. Cost for this customized gift starts at $20.

Online orders must be picked up on Friday from 2 to 5 p.m. There will be no pickup of online orders the day of the sale, a change from prior years. If those times don't work, greenhouse staff will work with individuals to coordinate a time that works.

The Mother's Day Plant Sale is always anticipated by the Carson City community. The plants are grown in the state-of-the-art facility and are acclimated to the area. In addition to the bounty produced in the greenhouse, plants are also being grown in the Native Plant Nursery, established last year.

As always, there will be a wide variety of plants offered including tomatoes, peppers, broccoli, eggplant, cabbage, a variety of flowers including TGPs signature petunias, milkweed, perennials, strawberries, herbs and much more.
