Carson freshman Budd fourth, relay team third at 5A track

Both Carson High and Dayton High track and field programs wrapped up their spring season in Henderson this past weekend at the Class 5A and 3A state track meet.

The Senator girls put together 14 team points behind a couple of event placings.

In the 800, freshman Hannah Budd clocked a 2 minutes, 21.22 seconds to take fourth place and earn five team points for Carson.

Kaylynn Bloomfield used a 49.48 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles to take sixth place and score three points.

In the relays, Carson’s 4x800 team finished in third in 9:48.52. That combination was Jinnie Ponczoch, Vea Miner, Brianna Rodriguez-Nunez and Budd.

• For Dayton, Molly McGrew capped her season with a fourth-place finish in the 400 meters in 1:01.22.

The Dust Devils’ 4x200 team (names not listed in the official results) finished in seventh place in 1:53.39.

Rachel Ply was second in the high jump for Dayton, clearing 4 feet, 11 inches.

Ply was also fourth in the discus throw, measuring a toss of 91-5.

On the boys side, Daniel Newby was seventh in the 100-meter dash in 11.69.

For the girls, Dayton finished with 20 points, taking 15th.
