CAPS: Bark in the Park is happening

Bella is a gorgeous 4-year-old Catahoula mix. She is a friendly, sweet girl that loves people and children. Bella enjoys playing ball and walks well on a leash. Not fond of other dogs, she is looking for a home where she can be the only dog.

Dear readers, Bark in the Park is finally here. The 5k walk/run and festival are taking place on Saturday 9 a.m.-4 p.m. There is no entry fee for the festival and vendor booths.

Registration for the 5k is from 7:30 to 8:45 a.m. (promptly) at the Churchill County Fairgrounds. The walk/run begins at 9 a.m. The registration fee is on $15 per person or $50 for a group of four. Dogs walk free and must be on a leash. You can also download the registration form by going to www.capsnevada.org to pre-register. T-shirts are available to the first 120 to register.

This is not just a fundraiser it is also a fun-raiser because the entire day is devoted to our BFFs. We have more than 30 vendor booths that feature crafts, food, and information. Along with our booths, we have bounce houses, games, raffles, and much more.

It is a testament to all the dog lovers who come each year with their BFFs to meet old friends, make new friends and enjoy walking together. The hot dog eating contest always brings laughter because the littlest dog seems to be the fastest eater. Who will be the star this year?

Bark in the Park is our biggest fundraiser. All of the money we receive from this will go toward our impending veterinary bills. We have had a bundle of puppies needing shots and spay/neutering. The increase in veterinary services has depleted our funds. Your involvement in this joyous festival will help us to continue to meet our goals.

CAPS will always have a special place in my heart because our dearly departed Watson was a CAPS graduate. The love and attention shown each animal in CAPS care is phenomenal. This is your chance to come out and support our no-kill shelter. I hope to see you there.

ATTENTION

Adoption special: We will discount any adoption for an adult dog by $50. Females are normally $150 now only $100. Males once $125 are now $75. All of our animals are healthy, spay/neutered, current on vaccinations, and microchipped.
