The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man who escaped shortly after being arrested on Friday, according to a news release.

Cory Tyler, 30, is wanted on a Nevada Parole and Probation warrant in addition to the escape charge, a category B felony.

On Friday, at 1:54 p.m., LCSO deputies went to the 200 block of Granada Street in Fernley and arrested Tyler on the Parole and Probation warrant. Tyler was transported to the Fernley substation for temporary housing, prior to being booked into the Lyon County Jail.

While at the substation, Tyler's handcuffs were removed and he was placed in a holding cell. The transporting deputy failed to properly secure the cell and Tyler fled when the deputy left the area, the release said. Tyler fled toward the southeast and his current location is unknown.

LCSO does not have information suggesting Cory Tyler is armed but urges the public to exercise extreme caution.

Anyone with information regarding Tyler’s location is urged to contact the Lyon County Sheriff's Office at 775-463-6620 or by email at detective@lyon-county.org.
