A special Carson City Planning Commission meeting is scheduled for 9 a.m. Thursday in the board room of the community center, 851 E. William St.

Commissioners will discuss the ongoing master plan updates and give input to the city’s consultant, Clarion Associates.

The master plan was first adopted in 2006, and the update is expected to head to the Board of Supervisors next year.

“In March 2024, the planning commission conducted outreach efforts by meeting with various service groups and hosting open houses on Saturdays at the library,” reads a staff report. “The intent of these outreach efforts was to ‘get the word out’ about the master plan update process and to conduct ‘listening sessions’ to hear from the community.

“The purpose of this agenda item is to provide an opportunity for the commissioners to inform the consultant about the input that the commissioners received during the outreach efforts and for the commissioners to provide input on the master plan update.”
