County commissioners recognize longtime employees

Churchill County commissioners began their meeting March 20 by recognizing employees with first-quarter service awards.

Leticia Orozco-Padilla (district attorney), Raeburn Sottile (museum), Marilyn Moore (museum) and Elizabeth Webb (parks and recreation) received recognition for five years of employment. Denise Mondhink-Felton (assessor) received recognition for 15 years of employment.

Donna Cossette (museum) and Paul Loop (sheriff) received recognition for 20 years of employment and Arthur Mallory (district attorney) and Richard Hickox (sheriff) received recognition for 25 years of employment.

Retiring county Human Resources Director Geof Stark was honored for almost 29 years of service to Churchill County.

County Building Official Marie Henson, who is also retiring, was honored for her 21 years of service to Churchill County, as well.

Sottile also received special recognition for his work on the Branding Wall Exhibit currently on display at the Rafter 3C Arena.

Commissioners also discussed and/or took action on the following items:

• Approved $5,000 for the 85th Annual Churchill County Junior Livestock Show and Sale.

• Approved $212,442.22 to purchase Verkada Security Equipment and Licenses for a 10-year term through state purchasing contractor Carahsoft.

• Approved $48,583.93 for a service agreement with PacStates for the installation of data and cabling systems at 270 S. Maine St.

• Approved $37,870.01 for a purchase agreement with PacStates for the provision and installation of security and access control systems at 270 S. Maine St.

• Approved $25,280 for a professional services agreement with TID Systems to install cabling and configure security cameras for the Juvenile Probation Office at 335 N. Broadway St.

• Approved $775,000 to purchase 280, 282, 290 and 292 Quail Way for the “Home Means Nevada Innovative” and implementation of the New Pass House and Day Center.

• After hearing testimony from both sides, commissioners declared that a nuisance does exist in relation to miscellaneous vehicles on the property located at 11800 Fulkerson Road. A complaint was filed by Roger D. Mooney, Sean Watkins and Ruth Groves against property owners Richard S. Alles, Pauline Alles and Patrick Alles.

Alles must submit an abatement plan to the County Public Works Director within 15 days and commence on that plan within 30 days.
