Damonte Ranch outlasts Douglas boys

Damonte Ranch boys basketball used a 16-7 edge in the second quarter to secure a 69-56 win over Douglas on Tuesday.

The Tigers had four players score in double figures: Jett Lehmann (15), Jeremiah Pitts (11), Caden Thacker (10) and Trace Estes (10).

Estes led the team with nine rebounds while Lehmann added four boards and four assists.

Douglas is locked into the No. 6 seed for the upcoming Class 4A North regional tournament. With one game remaining, Spanish Springs looks to be the No. 3 seed.

Tiger girls drop second league contest in a row

Douglas High girls basketball had won as many as eight games in a row into late January, but has dropped three of its last four, following a 44-41 loss to Damonte Ranch on Tuesday.

The league loss drops the Tigers into a three-way tie for the No. 2 seed with Damonte Ranch and Spanish Springs with one game to go.

Zora Simpson and Aleeah Weaver led the way on the scoresheet with 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Hailee Koontz had six points while pulling down 18 rebounds in the loss.

Logan Karwoski and Ashlyn Greenfield had five and four points, respectively.

UP NEXT: Douglas concluded its regular season at home against Carson on Friday.
