Michael Smith to present lecture on African Americans and the Arts on Feb. 29.

The Carson City Historical Society will welcome Michael Smith to their lecture presentation on Thursday, Feb. 29.

As part of Black History Month, Smith will present a talk on African Americans and the Arts. Smith is currently serving as a member of the Carson City Cultural Commission. He has a Master of Education degree from the University of Mississippi and is a retired high school principal after 33 years in the field of education.

Smith is president and CEO of the Northern Nevada Cultural Foundation and vice chair of the Employee Managements Relations Board.

CCHS lectures are held at 6:30 p.m. in the Carriage House of the Foreman-Roberts Historic House, located at 1207 Carson St. The lecture is free and open to the public. Space is limited.
