The Carson City School District will host a Community Connections K-12 Career Quest event from 5:30 to 7:45 p.m. Wednesday at Carson High School, 1111 N. Saliman Road. Dinner will be provided by Chartwells. There is no cost for the event.

Students, families and community members will learn about the relationship between education and career readiness and how school experiences prepare students for diverse fields, including high-skill and high-demand careers.

The event is designed to be fun and will offer special CPR, drone and robotics demonstrations.

Empire Elementary School will provide a presentation on its science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) program. Eagle Valley Middle School, Carson Middle School and Carson High will share information regarding their Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs. Pioneer Academy will share program information for engineering, anatomy, physiology and Jobs for Nevada’s Graduates (J4NG). Western Nevada College and JOIN representatives also will be present.

The purpose of quarterly Community Connections meetings, previously known as Professional Learning Community meetings, is to accumulate feedback from community members on how the school district’s updated strategic plan is performing and suggest ideas and systems to better help meet the goals, objectives and strategies of the district’s plan.

Community members can park along the curb in front of Carson High and enter the building at the south entrance near the flagpole or park in the north parking lot and enter through the north foyer.
