Carson City Symphony to begin rehearsals Wednesday

The Carson City Symphony will begin rehearsals for its third concert of its 40th season on Wednesday from 6:20 to 8:30 p.m.

Most rehearsals are held Wednesday nights at the Carson High School orchestra room, 1111 N. Saliman Road in Carson City.

Current openings are for strings, French horn, trumpets, and oboe. Musicians who are interested in joining should contact the symphony at 775-883-4154 or email carsoncitysymphony@gmail.com.

The concert will be on Sunday, Feb. 18 at 4 p.m. It will feature vocal soloist Richard Hutton and Carson Chamber Singers with music by John Williams, Georges Bizet, William Grant Still (in memoriam) and Ralph Vaughan Williams.

Lobby entertainment will start at 3 p.m., and a concert preview will be at 3:15 p.m.

The symphony, conducted by David Bugli, is a volunteer orchestra who perform music from the 15th to the 21st centuries. It is open to string players at any time without audition, and to other instrumentalists when positions are available.
