Falcon girls hoops win fourth straight league game

Sierra Lutheran girls basketball has won four straight league contests, defeating Coral Academy and Oasis Academy this weekend.

A 24-22 win over Coral Academy gave the Falcons their third consecutive win as Bella Ruiz led the way with seven points, four rebounds, three steals and two blocks.

Junior Chloe Friend matched Ruiz’s seven points while grabbing six rebounds and swiping four steals.

Saturday, the Falcons bested Oasis Academy, 44-36.

Tristin Langmeier led the way with a team-high 10 points for the Falcons to go along with three rebounds and three assists.

Rezsia Berger and Ruiz both had seven points while Kayla Carpenter and Friend added six points each.

Sam Steyn recorded eight points, four rebounds, six assists and nine steals in the win.

UP NEXT: Sierra Lutheran (5-4, 5-4 in 2A North league play) tangled with Pershing County (15-1, 8-1) Tuesday before traveling to Incline (0-8, 0-8) for a Friday night league game.


Sierra Lutheran boys split weekend league slate

The Falcon boys basketball team went 1-1 over their two games this past weekend, defeating Coral Academy, 51-13, before falling to Oasis Academy, 45-20.

Statistics were unavailable for both contests.

UP NEXT: Sierra Lutheran (6-10, 2-7 in Class 2A North league play) hosted Pershing County (6-10, 5-4) Tuesday night before traveling out to Incline (12-2, 9-0) Friday.

 

Dust Devil girls fall to Spring Creek

Spring Creek girls basketball was able to break out in the second half en route to a 41-26 win over Dayton Friday evening.

As of Monday afternoon, no score had been reported for the Dayton-Elko girls game.

UP NEXT: Dayton will be at home Wednesday against Lowry (13-4, 3-0 in Class 3A league play).


Spring Creek, Elko overpower Dayton boys basketball

The Dayton boys basketball team (4-11, 0-3 in Class 3A league play) was limited to two points in the second half in a 54-21 loss to Elko over the weekend.

The Dust Devils trailed 26-19 at the intermission before getting outscored 28-2 in the second half.

Friday, the Dust Devils fell to Spring Creek, 53-30.

UP NEXT: Dayton will play at home Wednesday evening against Lowry (9-8, 0-3).
