The Carson City Sheriff's Office is accepting applications for the 2024 Citizens Academy.

The Citizens Academy will run April 10 through June 12. Classes will be held Wednesdays from 6 to 9 p.m. Applications can be picked up at the Carson City Sheriff's Office, 911 E. Musser St. Due to limited availability of spots, early submission is recommended.

The Citizens Academy offers an opportunity for community members to engage with law enforcement professionals, learn about day-to-day operations, and foster a stronger bond between the sheriff's office and the community.

Participants will have the chance to gain knowledge about law enforcement procedures, explore different divisions within the sheriff's office, and engage in interactive discussions and activities.

Rules and requirements:

• Participants must be at least 18 years of age

• A criminal history check will be completed on each participant

• Participants are required to wear appropriate attire (business casual)

• Participants are required to conduct themselves in a professional manner

• Participants are not permitted to carry weapons

• Participants must be available to attend all 10 classes

Graduates will have the opportunity to complete an application and possibly conduct a ride-along with a CCSO deputy.
