An excessive heat warning will be in effect from Saturday through Wednesday affecting Nevada counties, according to the National Weather Service.

An intensified heat wave bringing hot daytime temperatures along the West Coast will produce state figures in the 100s, with California and Oregon seeing up to the 110s over the weekend. Excessive heat expands into the Pacific Northwest and Intermountain West throughout most of next week.

In Carson City, expected highs this week are 102, Saturday; 102, Sunday, 102, Monday; and 101, Tuesday. At NAS Fallon, highs will be 102, Saturday; 104, Sunday; 104, Monday; and 105, Tuesday.

Overnight cooling will be minimal. Lyon and Mineral counties and areas in the Western Nevada Basin and Pyramid Lake will be impacted by the increased temperatures.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration reports heat-related illness will increase and cautions the public to drink plenty of fluids and remain out of the sun as much as possible to avoid heat stroke.
