Faith & Insight: Light in darkness

In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your father in heaven. — Matthew 5:16

In the dark, we need light! I have at least three flashlights placed around the house. Now, of course, nearly everyone has a pretty powerful light on their cell phone! People in dark need light!

Jesus called himself “the Light of the world”! Early in his ministry, right before the words above, Jesus also appointed his followers to be “the light of the world.” God’s people are here to be among people and to shine light by doing good works that point to Jesus.

Light doesn’t make sense unless there is darkness. Darkness is here so God’s children can bring light! May our Lord bless us as we shine today, and may you find people to encourage you to shine!

“Shine, Jesus shine, fill this land with the father’s glory. Blaze, spirit, blaze, set our hearts on fire.” Graham Kendrick, 1988
