This weekend at The Fallon Theatre, we have two fantastic, fun, free movies.

For the young-at-heart we will be showing the 2010 animated favorite, “How to Train Your Dragon,” at 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Follow the adventures of Hiccup, a hapless young Viking who aspires to hunt dragons but becomes the unlikely friend of a young dragon himself and learns there may be more to the creatures than he had been taught. This movie is rated PG for sequences of intense action, some scary images, and brief mild language.

Our second movie, “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Adventure,” shows Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. This fantastical tale is based upon the well-loved novel by J.R.R. Tolkien and tells the story of a reluctant Hobbit named Bilbo Baggins who sets out to the Lonely Mountain with a spirited group of dwarves to reclaim their mountain home and the gold within it from the dragon Smaug.

The film is rated PG-13 for extended sequences of intense fantasy action, violence and frightening images.

The Hobbit trilogy will continue at 7 p.m. over the following two weekends with “The Desolation of Smaug” on June 14 and 15 (along with “The Land Before Time” at 6 p.m.) and “The Battle of the Five Armies” on June 21 and 22 (along with “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl” at 6 p.m). Plan to join us for the entire epic adventure on the big screen… with popcorn!

Looking even further into the calendar, on Wednesday, June 26, The De Golyer Bucking Horse and Bull Bash is sponsoring a special event movie at 7 p.m., “The Cowboy Way” (1994), starring Woody Harrelson and Kiefer Sutherland.

Two childhood friends who are rodeo cowboys travel from New Mexico to New York City searching for a friend who disappeared while looking for his daughter who's just been smuggled into the U.S. from Cuba. The movie is rated PG-13 for violence, some language, and comic sensuality.

In July we’ll be hosting Acid Box, the Fallon-local hard rock heavy metal punk fusion with a blues-influence band… and they’re loud! Check them out on the July 20 at 7 p.m. The cover charge is $10.
