Carson High softball picked up two wins over its weekend slate, downing Franklin 14-13 on Friday before splitting a league doubleheader with Reno on Saturday.

Friday, Carson’s offense powered the Senators to a 14-2 lead through four innings, scoring nine runs in the home half of the second.

Five of the first six hitters in the Senator lineup recorded multiple hits as Isabella Reyes (3-for-4) and Sofia Morrison (2-for-5) drove in three RBIs each.

“I felt confident up there. I felt like my team had my back when we were up to bat,” said Reyes after the win over Franklin.

Jordan Brubaker and Kiele Franco each recorded two RBIs.

It got a little dicey for Carson in the fifth inning as Franklin scored 11 runs, in part due to Carson errors.

“Each game we’ve played, we’ve gotten a little bit better. I like that a lot. We’re hitting the ball pretty well,” said Carson coach Scott Vickrey. “We just have to learn how to take a couple of errors and shut it down as opposed to cascading that into multiple errors and runs.”

Saturday, Carson split at Reno High, beating the Huskies 10-8 in the second game after falling 8-5 in the opener.

In the win, Reyes was 3-for-4 with a home run, double and four RBIs. Kiele Franco, Zadee Gitthens and Cali Stagliano all recorded two hits.

Eight Senators recorded a hit in the loss.

“We have a young team so I just want to watch us grow and finish strong,” said Gitthens.

UP NEXT: Carson (2-3, 1-1 in Class 5A North) is back in action Saturday at home against Galena (1-7, 0-2) in a league doubleheader.
