Carson High School announced its new girls basketball coach Monday in a news release.
Sam Golden will take the reigns for the Senators for next season, looking to continue building on a Senator team that took a step forward this past season under interim coach Nate Tolbert.
Golden has been an assistant coach for the varsity boys basketball team for the past two years and has been the athletic and facilities administrative assistant since 2021.
Her basketball repertoire dates back to her playing days at Spanish Springs High School, where she played varsity, starting as a freshman.
She played alongside Gabby Williams (UConn) and Jo Condie (Navy) on a Reno AAU club that placed third at nationals in 2012.
Golden went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in dietetics from Brigham Young.
She will be the program’s fifth head coach in the last six years.
Golden’s husband, Tyler, has been the Carson boys varsity coach for the past two seasons.
In 2023, the Goldens co-founded Rise 8, a non-profit basketball academy, honoring Sam’s late father with a mission to instill resilience in children through basketball.
