It’s hoedown time again in downtown Fallon.

For the third consecutive year, the Fallon-Churchill Volunteer Fire Department is celebrating its annual street dance from 5-9 p.m. Friday in front of the fire house on Carson Street. Fallon’s most attended block party includes games, dancing and a free barbecue of tri-tip sandwiches and hotdogs as well as free soda or water and ice cream.

“The fire department members would like to invite all citizens of the city of Fallon and Churchill County to come down and celebrate with us,” said Fallon businessman and firefighter Chris Henning. “This event is a way for the fire department to showcase some goodwill in our community and provide an evening of entertainment and games for all to enjoy.”

Henning said the city also has donated all the food and soda and water for the street dance. Among the events offered to people of all ages included fire truck rides, a fire smoke trailer demonstration, a disc jockey and dancing, a raffle for guns, cornhole and much more, added Henning.

Families are welcome, and Henning said the fire department encourages another big turnout from the area’s residents and visitors.

In addition to the local fire department, the Federal Fire Department at Naval Air Station Fallon and the Banner Churchill Community Hospital emergency medical services will also be in attendance.

Henning said local businesses have generously supported the fire department in putting on and supporting the street dance.

“The fire department is extremely grateful for all the support given to us every year and we look forward to seeing you all at the event,” Henning said. “The fire department will also be pre-selling raffle tickets for our general raffle on the night of the event. You do not need to be present to win,” Henning added.

Henning said raffle tickets are available for sale at the firehouse, with all the members of the department or at select businesses in Fallon. He said interested buyers should look for updates on fire department’s Facebook page for ticket locations.
