Rotarians to learn about beneficial electrification

Beneficial Electrification is becoming a hot topic. It’s a term for replacing fossil fuel use with electricity in an effort to reduce emissions and energy costs. Members of the Rotary Club of Carson City will learn more about the idea at the club’s next meeting. The public is invited to attend that takes place Tuesday, March 28th, at noon, in the Brewery Arts Center’s Grand Ballroom.

Rotarians to learn about Lake Tahoe Research at the next club meeting

The UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center (TERC) plays a critical role in preserving Lake Tahoe’s beauty and clarity. Members of the Rotary Club of Carson City and the public can learn about the center’s ongoing research at the club’s next meeting. TERC Education and Outreach Director Heather Segale will be the guest speaker at the March 21st meeting, which takes place at noon in the Brewery Arts Center’s Grand Ballroom.

Public invited to watch tribute to fallen nurse

Carson Tahoe Health is inviting the public to watch a live stream of a private vigil at 5 p.m. Friday for Ed Pricola, the flight nurse who died in the line of duty on a Care Flight plane that crashed on Feb. 24 in Lyon County.

Prison reform advocate to speak at Democratic luncheon

The featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Karen Gedney MD, author of 30 Years Behind Bars, Trials of a Prison Doctor. Dr Gedney is an internal medicine specialist who spent almost three decades as a physician in Nevada's correctional system. Today she is an outspoken advocate for Holistic Prison Reform.

Musicale@TheMaizie returns Saturday with two innovative artists

The Brewery Arts Center is excited for the return of Musicale@TheMaizie at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15 This new singer/songwriter series in what was formerly the Maizie Harris Jesse Black Box Theater, now simple known as The Maizie has created quite the buzz amongst music enthusiasts throughout the region. Musicale @TheMaizie is performed in an intimate setting with local and touring singer/songwriters giving them an opportunity to connect with the audience, interact and discuss the creative process. The definition of musicale is “a musical gathering or concert, typically small and informal” and that is exactly what this series is intended to be.
