Update: State offices, Carson City Schools, Carson Meals on Wheels, WNC closed today due to winter weather

Due to the weather and out of an abundance of caution for our Meals on Wheels drivers, staff, volunteers and seniors in the community, the Carson City Senior Center will be closed and Meals on Wheels will not be delivering today.  For our Meals on Wheels clients, please eat your shelf stable meal. We expect to resume normal delivery tomorrow.  Our in-house dining, activities and meetings are also canceled for today.  Please be safe out there today.

Western Nevada College's campuses in Carson City and Fallon, as well as the Child Development Center, will be closed today (Jan. 11) because of the weather creating hazardous road conditions. 

Governor Joe Lombardo announced the closure of all state government offices in Northern Nevada early this morning.

Due to inclement weather and potentially dangerous road conditions, all Lyon County offices (other than essential public safety personnel), will be closed today, Thursday, January 11, 2024. Lyon County emergency and snow removal personnel are working to address public safety concerns.  Dayton Justice Court, Fernley Canal Township Justice Court, and Walker River Justice Court will be closed and all court proceedings will be cancelled Thursday.

Due to the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) and the Department of Public Safety (DPS) reporting severe weather and potentially dangerous road conditions, Governor Joe Lombardo has ordered all State executive branch government offices (other than essential public safety and corrections personnel) remain closed on Thursday, January 11, 2024, in Carson City, Churchill County, Douglas County, Lyon County, Mineral County, Persing County, Storey County, and Washoe County.

Due to weather-related conditions, all schools in the Carson City School District will be closed for the entire day Thursday, January 11, 2024.  

 

All employees and students should remain home. No student activities, afterschool programs or practices will occur, including remote instruction. No school services such as transportation, nutrition or student health will be provided.

Western Nevada College officials have decided to delay the opening of the Carson City campus, including the Child Development Center (CDC), on Thursday, Jan. 11.

The Carson City and Fallon campuses and the CDC will begin operations at 10 a.m. because of adverse road conditions.
