VIRGINIA CITY - Judge Michael Griffin entered a plea of not guilty Friday for Virginia Highlands resident Perry Jay Duncan, 48, accused of four counts of felony lewdness with a minor under the age of 14.

The move was made in the interests of expediency and for the sake of the victims, according to District Attorney Sharon Claassen.

"We want to move this forward as soon as possible," she said. "If the girls do have to end up testifying, we want them to be able to put it behind them as soon as possible."

A trial date should be set next week for some time between September and March, according to Claasen.

Duncan faces the possibility of a minimum 10-year sentence to life for each count and could draw four consecutive life sentences. A felony drug possession charge could put him in prison for an additional six years.

Duncan has lived in the Virginia City Highlands with his wife for the past two years. The couple moved here from Clark County.

Anyone with information concerning other victims or the case, is asked to call Sgt. Jerry Pederson or Deputy Cindy Fay at 775-847-0950.
