DAYTON - Lack of adequate parking within Dayton's historic district remains a concern.

The Dayton Regional Advisory Council this evening will continue its efforts to find a solution to the growing problem.

There are currently no set parking regulations for Main and Pike streets and randomly parked vehicles often make it difficult for two-way traffic to pass safely. Pedestrian safety is also put at risk.

Among other council business, the board will be taking nominations for three positions on the seven-member advisory board.

Seats up for election to two-year terms include: River Village (District 5), currently held by Chairman Shannon Wines; Mark Twain East (District 6), currently held by Terry Hall; and Eldorado Lakes (District 7), currently held by Ray Benefiel.

Anyone interested in running must have someone from their district present at the meeting to nominate them. All nominees must be registered voters in the district they wish to represent. Nominations will also be accepted at the October meeting.

Elections will take place in November.

The Dayton Regional Advisory Council meets at the Community Center, Pike Street, beginning at 7 p.m. For information call 246-5151.
