According to Marc Murrell, an outdoor writer for www.alloutdoors.com, a new state record catfish was caught in Kansas in late May.
A blue catfish that weighed 90 pounds was caught by Earl. D. Eastburn of Potter, Kan. in the Missouri River.
Eastburn was fishing with a throwline with live goldfish when the monster inhaled the goldfish.
The catfish was 56.5 inches long and had a girth of nearly three feet.
As a matter of interest, more than half of Kansas's 35 fish record have been set in the months of May and June.
