Carson girls on second-place team

The "Jam on It" basketball academy under-17 girls team, which included Carson Middle School students Ciarra Christian, Katie Kotter and Tabitha Adams, placed second in the national BCI Tournament held April 7-9 in Phoenix, Ariz.


All of the players on the "Jam on It" team were 14 years old.


The team defeated clubs from California, Idaho, Arizona and Washington to advance to the championship game. In the title game, Nevada lost a close contest to Montana, 70-64.


In addition to the Carson Middle School students, the other players on the team included: Traci Graham (McQueen), Shelia Diaz (Manogue), Stacie Elliopidus (Galena), Joanna Hixon (Galena), Elizabeth Fox (Reno), Jessica Stewart (Reno), and Tristan Adams (Fallon).


The coaches of the team were Matt Williams and Cheryl Hicks.


The same team is set to participate in the AAU National Qualifier in June.
