A deadbeat dad convicted in 1998 of owing $91,000 in back child support was back in court Monday for a reported violation of his parole.

Bill Mantik, 50, of Reno, was convicted in May 1998 and ordered to spend three months in jail, in addition to making payments to his ex-wife until the debt is paid off.

Although he denied having an alcohol problem, Mantik was also ordered to undergo alcohol treatment for one year. Officials believe Mantik violated his parole when probation inspectors reportedly found him drinking during an after-hours inspection.

Mantik's conviction was the first in Carson City for failure to pay child support. He will be back in district court after Judge Michael Griffin has had time to review his alleged violation.
