Carson City schools will present an honor band, made up of students from Carson Middle and Eagle Valley middle schools, in concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10 at the Carson City Community Center.
Students auditioned in early January and have rehearsed for four weeks. The band is directed by Felton Hickman, retired band director from the Washoe County School District. Hickman taught at Reed High School and Sparks Middle School and is a past Nevada Music Educator of the Year. He frequently appears as a guest conductor and adjudicator in California and Nevada.
The Carson Middle School "Singing Solons," directed by Nancy Mielke will also perform. There is no admission charge and the evening is open to the public.
