Obituary: Ray F. Nelson Jr.

A memorial service for Ray F. Nelson Jr., 62, a Virginia City resident for the past 11 years, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Masonic Lodge in Virginia City.

Mr. Nelson died Feb. 18, 2000, at his residence. He was born Jan. 7, 1938, in Fresno, Calif., to Ray F. Sr. and Elsie Tracy Nelson.

Before moving to Virginia City, he lived in Shingletown, Calif.

Mr. Nelson was a truck driver. He had been a member of the Masons since 1966 and a member of the Virginia City Jeep Posse. He loved hunting, fishing, old cars and living in Virginia City. He enjoyed socializing in Virginia City and barbecuing at social events.

Among his survivors are his son, James Brian, of Susanville, Calif., daughters, Lauri Walters of Reno and Susan Carr, of Turlock, Calif.; brother, Bob, of Rio Vista, Calif.; sister, Alice Fouts, of Shingletown; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild and many dear friends.

Burial will be in the Virginia City Cemetery.

Cremation will be at Walton's Carson Sierra Crematory.

Capital City Cremation and Burial Society is in charge of arrangements.
