Gerald Spencer Knight, 79, a Minden resident for the past nine years, died Aug. 30, 2001 at his home. He was born Sept. 3, 1921, in Waltham, Mass., to Earl and Ruth Peppers Knight.
He married Suzanne Nevius on July 25, 1960 in Reno.
Before moving to Minden, he lived in Sherman Oaks, Calif.
Mr. Knight was a ballistics expert who was well respected throughout the country. He was manager of Kerr's Gun Department in Beverly Hills, Calif. for 36 years. He also managed Pachmayr Gun Works in Los Angeles for six years and retired from there in 1985. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association, a member of the Safari Club International of Tucson, Ariz., the Carson Valley Clays, Capitol City Gun Club and Red Hill Gun Club. He enjoyed skeet shooting and participated in five African safaris and one in Spain. He was a Christian.
He served in the U.S. Army Artillery during World War II and was a Bronze Star recipient. He participated in the Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns.
Among his survivors are his wife of 41 years Suzanne N.; daughter Claudia L. Crivelli of Channel Islands, Calif.; granddaughter Jennifer L. Simpson of Thousand Oaks, Calif. and great-granddaughter Kaitlin L. Simpson, also of Thousand Oaks.
FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home, Gardnerville, is in charge of arrangements.
