Obituary Norine Chilton Cronk

Norine Chilton Cronk, 100 years and 7 months old, died Feb. 19, 2002, at Evergreen Skilled Nursing Home in Carson City. She was born July 27, 1901, in San Jose, Calif., to Blanche Husted and Jay W. Chilton.

She married twice, Kenneth D. Priestley and then Sheldon L. Cronk who died in 1976.

She moved to Lake Tahoe in 1978 from Santa Clara Valley. She was a beloved member of the South Lake Tahoe community. Two large birthday parties were held in her honor; the first at the age of 99 at Lucky's supermarket at South Lake Tahoe and her 100th birthday at the Carson City facility where she lived.

She was a member of the Barton Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and worked many years at the Attic Thrift Shop where she volunteered more than 10,000 hours. In 1992, she was voted and honored as Auxiliary Woman of the Year.

She was preceded in death by sisters Ruth Chilton Martin and Beryl Chilton Lucas.

Among her survivors are her daughter and son-in-law Beryl Priestley and Ken Calliat of Zephyr Cove; grandchildren Kenneth D. Calliat and Joy C. Tonn; great-grandchildren Morgan and Colbie Calliat and Jarrett and Stephanie Tonn and brother Jay W. Chilton.

At her request, no service will be held. A private family inurnment is planned.
