Ladies of St. Peter's Episcopal Church have made plans for an elaborate social at Armory Hall. First-class dance music has been engaged and the customary spread of delicacies. The best looking girls in the parish will see that the stranger fares well while in their midst and will establish themselves as good Samaritans

Yesterday Benjamin Moore, one of the pioneers of this county, died at his cabin in this city. Mr. Moore had been a carpenter for many years in this community.

Despite all surgical science could render, Merle Hardy, bridge engineer for the state highway department, died in Reno following auto accident injuries. He was born in Starr Valley about 34 years ago.

50 YEARS AGO

New donations to the Nevada State Museum included a spoon used in the old Louvre Saloon on Carson Street, an 1843 1-cent piece, from Lucy Crowell, pictures of state capitol, one of 1872, one year after completion and from Herman Allen, an Indian fishing basket from a remote part of Lander County.

20 YEARS AGO

Carson City Board of Supervisors accepted a $20,700 grant offer from the state Office of Community Services to outfit a hazardous materials response vehicle for the fire department.

10 YEARS AGO

Memorial service for Connie Bondietti, 50, Gardnerville resident who was a bowler at Lake Tahoe and helped organize the cancer benefit tournaments there. Her great-grandfather Henry Schneider homesteaded a ranch in Pleasant Valley, Calif., in 1850.
