Byron A. Welch, 76, a Gardnerville resident for the past 14 years, died Aug. 19, 2004, at home. He was born July 10, 1928, in Kansas City, Kan., to Albert and Vivian Welch.

Mr. Welch was a truck driver and retired Teamster. He was a member of the Round Church.

He served in the U.S. Merchant Marines during World War II.

He was preceded in death by a sister and three brothers.

Among his survivors are his wife, Beverly of Gardnerville; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa L. and Elmer Jones; son and daughter-in-law Michael B. and Katherine Welch; son, Daniel G.; sister and brother-in-law, Levette and Eldon Gunn; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A private cremation ceremony will be held.

Memorial contributions may be made to Carson Valley Hospice.

FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
