A memorial service for Loretta R. Brown, 74, a Gardnerville resident for the past year, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Mrs. Brown died Dec. 12, 2004, at Carson Valley Medical Center.

She was born April 25, 1930, in Fredricksburg, Calif., to Earnhart and Rose Pauline Cook Bassman.

She graduated from Douglas High School and attended one year of business college.

Mrs. Brown was raised in Fredricksburg and lived in Gardnerville, Arizona, Coleville, Calif., then Gardnerville.

She married Floyd Brown Sept. 7, 1952, in Reno. He preceded her in death.

Before moving to Gardnerville, she lived in Coleville for more than 40 years.

Mrs. Brown was a homemaker. She was a member of the Eastern Star in Bridgeport, Calif.. and the Antelope Valley Women's Club for many years.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by a brother.

Among her survivors are her son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Marilyn of Marysville, Calif.; daughter and son-in-law, Lanette and John Vannoy of Coleville; sister, Lorraine of Medford, Ore.; brother, Wayne Bassman of Oregon; aunt, Jean Allen of Spokane, Wash.; and five grandchildren.

Cremation will be at Walton's Sierra Crematory.

Walton's Douglas County Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
