Lloyd Thomas Taylor, 90, died Sept. 15, 2004, at the South Lyon Medical Center in Yerington. He was born Sept. 10, 1914, in Hotchkiss, Colo., to Louis and Josephine Taylor. The family settled in Ruth, where he graduated from high school in 1932.
He married Dola Smith in Randolph, Ala.
Mr. Taylor worked for Isabel Construction and moved to Baynard, N.M., in 1948. He moved to Weed Heights in 1952, where he worked for Anaconda Mining, retiring in 1976.
He was an avid golfer, golfing until he was 88, and was a five handicapper and had three hole-in-one awards. He was a charter member of the Mason Valley Country Club. He also enjoyed water skiing.
He was the first man drafted from Ruth for World War II in 1941. He served with the Second Armored Division under Gen. George Patton for the duration of the war and was discharged in August 1945.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Roger and Bob.
Among his survivors are his wife of 62 years; son, Richard; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Howard Smyth; grandchildren Benjamin, Joseph and Meghan; brother and sister-in-law Don and Clorraine; and five nieces and nephews.
At his request, no service will be held.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
