A memorial service for Robert "Bob" J. Peccole, 91, a longtime Nevada resident, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the First Congregational Church of Reno, 627 Sunnyside Drive. Entombment will take place in Las Vegas.

Mr. Peccole died April 30, 2006, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Reno. He was born March 1, 1915, in Stockton, Calif., to Pete Peccole and Lena Armanino.

Mr. Peccole moved to Nevada with his father and brother in 1933, lived in Las Vegas, Ely, Reno and Lake Tahoe.

He had been a card dealer and manager; owner/operator of the Cal-Neva Lodge at Lake Tahoe; and the casino manager of Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, as well as several other hotel casinos in Sparks, Reno and Lake Tahoe. He was also the owner and playing manager of the Reno Larks in 1941.

He was inducted into the baseball halls of fame in Stockton and Sacramento. After his retirement, he owned and operated A&P Slots.

Mr. Peccole was a lifetime member of the Las Vegas Elks Post 1468 and an associate member of the Reno Elks for many years.

He was a fan of baseball and golf and played both games. He played with the Karl Ross Post American Legion team in 1931 at the national finals in Chicago. Peccole Field at the University of Nevada, Reno is named for his brother Bill Peccole.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eco Peccole, in 1967; son Richard Peccole; brother Bill Peccole; and sister Mildred Hostetter.

Among his survivors are his second wife, Kelly Peccole; sons and daughters-in-law Robert and Nancy Peccole and William and Roberta Peccole; stepson and daughter-in-law, Mark and Karen Nimrick; sisters and brothers-in-law Zoe and Chuck Alison and Lena and John Ostunio; brother and sister-in-law John and Rene Piccoli; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
