A graveside service with military honors for Richard Murguia, 68, a five-year Dayton resident, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Lone Mountain Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Wednesday at FitzHenry's Funeral Home.

Mr. Murguia died Aug. 26, 2006, at home. He was born March 31, 1938, in Dewey, Okla., to Juan Murguia and Mary Leon.

He married Marion Louise on May 2, 1958 in Salome, Ariz.

Before moving to Dayton, Mr. Murguia lived in Santa Paula, Calif., and Ventura County, Calif., for many years.

He had an associate's college degree and several certifications in the building trade.

He served in the U.S. Navy Seabees, and retired from U.S. civil service.

He was awarded the Combat Distinguishing Device, the Gallantry Cross, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and several other awards.

He was preceded in death by his wife in November 2000; a sister and a brother.

Among his survivors are his sons and daughters-in-law Richard and Melanie Murguia of Culpeper, Va., and Eugene and Lisa Murguia of Dayton; daughter, Terri Murguia of Mound House; sisters Anita Downey, Rosie Ladd, Teresa Hartley and Virginia Tomison, all of Dewey, Okla., and Jessie Krider of Boise, Idaho; brothers Salvador Murguia of Tulsa, Okla., David Murguia of Lone Pine, Calif., and Tony and Albert Murguia, both of Dewey; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Hospice, 18653 Wedge Parkway, Reno, NV 89511.

FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
