A Reno woman was injured Tuesday morning when she failed to slow down in traffic that was surrounding a previous accident, an official said.

According to Trooper Chuck Allen with the Nevada Highway Patrol, at 8 a.m. troopers were called out to Highway 395 and Bellevue Bridge on the report of a non-injury accident in the southbound lane.

Traffic was reduced to one lane as a result.

Allen said that at 8:12 a.m., Tracey R. Carrira-Franssen, 44, was southbound in a gray Nissan four-door sedan when she failed to observe slow moving traffic.

"She applied the brakes, skidded, but was unable to avoid rear-ending a white Ford pickup," said Allen.

He said Carrira-Franssen was taken by helicopter to Washoe Medical Center. Truck driver, Wade Vecchio, 35, of Reno, was uninjured.

Allen said southbound traffic was reduced to one lane for about an hour.

Witnesses to the accident are asked to call NHP at 688-2500.
